Packet Drivers for DOS
Although there are many different model numbers for LAN adapters with each manufacturer, the packet driver supplied by the manufacturer is usually the same for a large number of models. So do not try to find a packet driver specific for your model number.
If there is no packet driver for a group of LAN adapters available, I compiled a Novell ODI package for use with ODIPKT. An ODI driver is often available even for the latest LAN adapter models and the ODI packet driver shim can be used with that to provide a packet driver interface.
Some motherboard manufacturers use
onboard chipsets for the motherboard's LAN adapters e.g. from Nvidia, Marvell,
Broadcomm or Realtek. Sometimes they also use different chipset vendors for
different types of their boards. Use either my NICSCAN utility to find the network
adapter installed or check the specifications of your motherboard to determine
which chipset is used. You can then use the packet driver available here
for the manufacturer of the LAN chipset which is used with your motherboard.
NICSCAN.EXE - a utility progam to determine the type of PCI network
adapter installed in your system.
